How the industry immediately sullies new artists

…IF they were not made-to-order for a specific time…?

https://www.risingappalachia.com/action  This is where the fruit is critical in order to discern. Their mission, as stated via this website, is very admirable.

Here are the plain lyrics for a song by Rising Appalacia:

Resilient
Song by Rising Appalachia

Lyrics

I am resilient
I trust the movement
I negate the chaos
Uplift the negative
I’ll show up at the table, again and again and again
I’ll close my mouth and learn to listen

These times are poignant
The winds have shifted
It’s all we can do
To stay uplifted
Pipelines through backyards
Wolves howlin out front
Yeah, I got my crew but truth is what I want

Realigned and on point
Power to the peaceful
Prayers to the waters
Women at the center

All vessels open to give and receive
Let’s see the system brought down to it’s knees

I’m made of thunder
I’m made of lightning
I’m made of dirt (yeah)
Made of the fine things
My father taught me that I’m a speck of dust
And this world was made for me
So let’s go and try our luck

I got my roots down, down, down, down
Down, down, down, down, down, deep
I got my roots down, down, down, down
Down, down, down, down, down, deep

So what are we doing here? What has been done?
What are you gonna do about it when the world comes undone?
My voice feels tiny and I’m sure so does yours
But put us all together we make a mighty roar

I am resilient
I trust the movement
I negate the chaos
Uplift the negative
I’ll show up at the table, again and again and again
I’ll close my mouth and learn to listen

This is how they perform it without industry influence: https://youtu.be/UPSknoPYdXw

This is the “official video” now they’ve hit the road to fame: https://youtu.be/tx17RvPMaQ8

Some may find this to be a more polished, professional version and it is. It also feels quite different, in subtle ways. It now sells like a different sort of anthem.

The writer/performers were likely presented with this conceptually in ways they felt inspired by – the deeper meanings and corollaries and are probably very happy with this effort and its outcome. Problem is, this is the very early beginning and how they get lured in to be hooked.

Look at the singer on the left’s (as you watch the glossy version) facial expressions and feel that change – there is a self-satisfied smirkiness not seen before and an unhealthy shine in her eyes that appeared clear before.

The next songs set to videos will continue this slow, subtle creep until these artists sound less and less like themselves, as they originated, and more and more like the industry they here purport to want to see “brought to its knees”. Money will sweeten the decline until their message becomes hypocrisy, and so, a rotten tooth.

What do you think?

I don’t know why, but watching the new “official” version of the video made me sneeze five times in quick succession. That never happens to me. Also, unlike most commenters there, I did not enjoy the dancers. And yes, I saw her smirk; it is insidious.
