If all your do on your computer is browse the web, check email, word processing, stream videos and music, etc. there is no reason to use Windows. Just switch to Linux Mint.

Use older Windows or modified Windows or non-Windows OSes.

There are backdoors on Intel CPU:s (not sure about AMD) in the form of a protected and obfuscated co-processor (Management Engine.) It can access the internet and send and recieve data without the users knowledge and without any transparency. Who knows what its true capabilities are.

It’s best to get off of Microsoft Windows (for many reasons) but perhaps it won’t matter. Another reason to get away from Windows is that they’re planning to take your computing into the “cloud,” i.e. take all your data over to Microsoft servers. This is why you keep getting nag screens lately about “backing up” your system to Microsoft’s OneDrive system, which of course gives them all your data even before the cloud transition happens.

AMD does have their own version of the management engine.

I agree it’s impossible not to be a target, but I think it’s good to try not to be an easy one.

They can also get your fingerprints by reading or listening to the swipe sound
