The movie is based on the real-life events in 2010:
33 chilean miners were rescued after being trapped underground for 69 days in the San Jose mine in Chile. The mine collapsed on August 5th, 2010, and all 33 miners were safely brought to the surface on October 13th, 2010. Also called „The miracle of the 33“.

You’re overthinking this. Praise God those miners were rescued. I agree with a lot of things, but people on this site really overreach sometimes. And I understand, I’ve done it too. But we have to get out of that grasping for straws all the time.
