Cybersmile.org's Modern Witch Trials Campaign

Cybersmile.org, a foundation meant to bring awareness to cyber bullying and mob justice has used the salem witch trials to foment their argument in a newly launched campaign comparing it to the salem witch trials.

While I agree that “mob justice” and cyber bullying is a problem, it is telling they chose to use the salem witch trials as an example to help explain a modern problem, because well, nobody is burning anybody at the stake or actually killing people in hordes.   Unfortunately, I can see why they used it as an example but it is very telling, with the amount of witch shows being promoted.  Are they trying to sympathize with witchery?  As gullible the young generations are, I can already see sympathy building for the devil.

This is an interesting excerpt from their website:

“The campaign’s powerful short film was created as part of a partnership with Chromista, the production company of Hollywood director Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan and The Whale), Ted Robbins, Adina Birnbaum, and Scott Franklin. The hard-hitting creative, directed by Emmy Award nominee and Venice Film Festival winner Eliza McNitt, demonstrates how historical mob justice has now been ‘upgraded’ from 17th century witch hunts with burning torches in Salem, to online mobs weaponizing the power of the internet and social media to destroy people’s lives.”

They referenced “black swan”, why not “the wrestler”?  🤔  Seeing as to how deeply symbolic and dark the movie “black swan” is, I suspect why.
