The second game is known for being super woke. It is no surprise the owners of the IP were okay with HBO adding more. And Hofferman is your standard SNL trump-derangement-syndrome Hollyweirdo so no surprise there.

I only watched the first episode and was pleasantly surprised by the quality, but still found a few things annoying. Like how the titular co-cast character looks more down-syndromy than cute.

And Joel’s real daughter couldn’t stay white either.

And I don’t have an issue with race. Lee and Clementine made a great pairing. But there is something to be said about protecting an innocent child vs a gruff honey badger.

It seems off topic that the girl is ugly?

No. Like Luke Skywalker in the newest trilogy sucking, or that ugly poo shaped MLK statue, cherished pieces of culture are purposely degraded to demoralize the public.
