I don’t know that they need to go through all that. They will pass along her spiritual ‘inheritance’ regardless, to the one chosen. We know they’re fond of putting figureheads out front while the real leaders run things from the closed rooms.

These people are similar to heads of other countries, I think, insofar as influence. Yes, they’re Old Money (prestige, power, etc) but they’re just figureheads and shows for the masses, they’re taking orders, too, they’re like the higher levels of middle management. Or maybe the lower tiers of higher management, but I sense its the first. They have a place within the hierarchy but the ones who actually run things, no one ever sees and most don’t know who they are except by title, if they’ve ever even heard of those. These are the ‘high ones’ who have to suffer the slobbery kisses of the masses and feel the smelly crush of slavering worship up close and personal. They get paid well, as they definitely see it all as being beneath them.
