So, not my imagination, it really is brighter than usual. I was getting it confused with Venus, but it was in the wrong spot for it to be Venus. (Venus is closer to the Sun and thus is seen near the sun before sunrise or after sunset.)
Doesn’t the film Nope reference Jupiter?
