The metaverse is just social video games with immersive presence. It will become more immersive when AI generated content amps up over the next few years and we have even more immersive experiences because of eye tracking.
Take a look at DALLE-2 and Unreal Engine 5 metahumans.
Even without the VR aspect, we are about to be flooded with a new generation of incredible content in every art form.
Take a break from the internet. Don’t buy facebook’s headsets but be grateful they are funding Michael Abrash and his team in Redmond to do a bunch of hard science and propel the technology.
Buy a PS5 and PSVR 2 or whatever headset Valve releases next.
Then check out whatever apple releases in 2-5 years.
Or keep your soul and live life like a free human being.
If entertainment takes away your soul and freedom then the problem is in you.
Playing video games is not a sin like you and your sanctimonious downvoters are rudely putting forth.
Technology isn’t evil.
Cutting edge future technology isn’t evil.
It’s how you use it.
I will be getting a brain computer interface upgrade as soon as a quality one comes to market. Having something even more powerful than GPT-3 / Babelfish at your beck and call is hugely advantageous.
It doesn’t mean you have to put it in your body or have it on 24/7.
Just like you don’t need to look at your smart phone, or be on your PC, or wear VR goggles 24/7.
Don’t hate the tool just because you’re an addict.
