I never saw police in the village that I lived in. In fact, I was told that if I ever needed a copper, don’t depend on one ever showing up. If it is true that a bunch of police have suddenly shown up then it indicates to me they did so for the cameras.
Free speech is a threat to those who want to force the populace on a certain path. Their point of view is neither popular nor does it pass the smell test.
Authoritarians are the enemy of free speech.
Instead of hunting people on the Internet, they need to be out there defending the innocent.
I would have said years ago the nudge works more effectively. The authoritarian approach doesn’t work on the British.
Then COVID happened and it recognised how naive I’d been. It was all just talking and most of us will happily do in our neighbours for clout.
