The anime is a classic. The lead male character is insufferable, but if you’re a fan of Invasion of the Body Snatchers and quality animation then give it a go. The premise is that the parasites usually do a full take over, but the main character interrupts the invasion and retains most of his autonomy from the highly intelligent AI-like being that tries to take over.
SPOILERS
The series ends with the main character’s parasite having matured and sacrificing itself after becoming more empathetic and “human” than its host. It goes dormant in the main character, losing its voice, making some kind of alchemical transmutation reference to integrating your shadow self.

Being Caucasian in Japan was once a desire because the ancient Japanese were Caucasian. I think they came from the black Sea as many Japanese words are Russian.
