The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters (

A article explaining that apocalyptic sci-fi has its origin in Orwell, who championed a New Republic (what we would now call the NWO). In his stories, the “inferior masses” act horribly toward each other under extreme circumstances due to their uncontrollable impulses toward evil. Therefore, there ought to be a “great purge” of these inferior masses.

By writing of violent scenes in extreme events, Orwell and others teach us to act similarly: when things get crazy, be ruthless. It’s the Walking Dead, Mad Max, Squid Game, etc. All of these are teaching us how to act, aka predictive programming.

The author argues that people have an impulse instead to use their conscience.

This article does not thread its theme well, but it is still a good read.
