As every year, The Economist magazine gives us “predictive” coverage for the coming year.
Compared to previous years, the covers of 2022 and 2023 seem much poorer in information (leaders of nations with elements reminiscent of health, war, technologies or ecology), which seems to prove that we seem well at a much more important period or many things are already in place.
Nevertheless, these covers can be used as a support for reflection to analyze the events planned for the world to come (while considering that everything cannot happen as Man has planned).
The world symbolism of 2019 was directed towards the ascent of the mountain, in 2020 towards the stopping of the world, in 2021 the variant delta (triangle) and 2022 on the variant omicron (from the word ayin which means “eye”), the umanity seemed to have accomplished the entire initiatory process of reintegrating the pole.
The covers of The Economist were a perfect fit with this theme, first introducing us to the mountain on the 2019 cover:

Then 2022, finally we reach the universal eye by the spiral, the center of the wheel where resides the king of the world and the narrow door which allows the exit of the cosmos:

Coming to your subject, let’s start by comparing the cover of 2023 with that of 2022 to see that the single eye/the wheel/the vortex, symbol of the supreme center, is shattered:
